Recoil springs for Colt 1911 series pistols are available in both conventional and variable power designs. Please refer to our FAQ section for information on conventional vs. variable design. Each Wolff recoil spring for Colt pistols includes an extra power firing pin spring. Recoil Calibration Paks are available offering a range of spring weights to tune your pistols recoil function. All springs are produced from Wolff proprietary HTCS spring material except as noted.

The 3 most popular 1911 recoil springs are also available in chrome silicone material. While chrome silicone is an excellent material, it is a softer material and does not offer the tensile strength of our proprietary HTCS spring material (the material from which most of our springs are produced from). We now offer these spings due do customer requests.

   1. Factory rating for super .38 & 9mm is 14 Lbs.
   2. Factory rating in .40 S&W is 19 Lbs.
   3. Factory rating for the Colt .38 Spl. Midrange is 14 Lbs. 
   4. Factory rating for the Colt Ace .22 conversion is 14 Lbs.

CONVENTIONAL RECOIL SPRINGS - .45 ACP

Recoil calibration paks are offered to allow the shooter a choice of recoil springs to calibrate the recoil function when the correct spring rating is not known. These paks offer a savings of 20% over the same purchase of individual springs. The shooter starts with the strongest spring in the pak and works down until the desired recoil function is obtained.

Wolff sear springs for Colt pistols are high quality replacement springs designed to original factory specifications. Springs are original 3-finger design and operate the sear, trigger return and grip safety. An important spring for any tune-up job. Will also fit many Colt copies.

For use in:
Colt Series 70, 80 & 90 - 1911, 1911A1, 1991, Government, Delta Elite, Officers, MKIV, Defender and many copies.

Magazine springs for the above Colt pistols are available in a variety of load ratings to accommodate almost any shooting requirement.

Extra power magazine springs are recommended for use with full power loads especially when using extra power recoil springs. Extra power magazine springs assure smooth feeding and proper cartridge seating. In addition to the traditional extra power magazine springs.

Reduced power magazine springs are available for Colt pistols. These springs are intended for use only with compensated pistols and/or with very light ammunition loads. Reduced power magazine springs lessen the cartridge pressure on the underside of the slide to improve functioning in low recoil energy situations. 

Use of reduced power magazine springs with full power ammunition will cause functioning problems.

7 ROUND 1911/COMMANDER & 6 ROUND OFFICERS - .45 ACP

Wolff Extra Power firing pin springs are a must in Colt pistols prior to the inclusion of the firing pin safety mechanism and are highly recommended in all pistols. These springs are approximately 40% stronger than the factory springs and provide an increased margin of safety by helping to reduce the chance of accidental discharge due to the firing pin contacting the cartridge primer in the event of dropping the pistol in a loaded condition or from the increased inertia imposed on the firing pin with extra power recoil springs. Every Colt pistol should have an extra power firing pin spring installed even when shooting the lightest loads. All Wolff load-rated Colt recoil springs are packaged with this spring.  Original factory springs are also available.

In addition, we now offer Extra Extra Power firing pin springs.  These springs are approximately 85% stronger than original factory firing pin springs.  These springs are used to provide a greater margin of safety, particularly when trying to meet certain drop test requirements.

These springs are replacement firing pin safety springs used in all 80 & 90 series pistols with firing pin lock safety.

For use in:
Colt 1911, 1911A1, 1991, Gov't, MKIV, and Gold Cup series pistols. Please choose by caliber as magazine springs are caliber specific.

Type I - contains the following factory specification springs: recoil spring, firing pin spring (extra power), hammer spring, magazine catch spring, plunger tube spring, firing pin safety spring and sear spring.

TYPE II contains all of the springs described in the Type I pak above and a 10 pound extra power 7 round magazine spring for .45 ACP and a 7.5 Lb. extra power magazine spring in Super .38 & 9mm.

This pak contains 1 each of 18 Lb. factory standard spring, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 & 17 Lb. reduced power variable recoil springs and 3 each extra power firing pin springs.Order Stock No. 13105 below

Type I - contains the following factory specification springs: recoil spring, firing pin spring (extra power), hammer spring, magazine catch spring, plunger tube spring, firing pin safety spring and sear spring.

Type II - contains all of the springs described in the Type I pak above and a 10 pound extra power magazine spring.

Recoil Springs from W. C. Wolff Company for the Colt Officer's Model series 80, are a single recoil spring design which replaces the original dual springs. The single recoil spring offers superior performance over dual springs which have a normal tendency to bind against each other as well as having a "mushy" feeling. The single spring offers crisp and reliable operation not usually found in dual spring systems. As with all Wolff load-rated recoil springs an extra power firing pin spring is included.

Full Diameter recoil springs are also for use in the Kimber Compact, Para-Ordnance P-12 and Springfield Untra Compact & V10 and the Colt Officers with full diameter/full length guide rods. Use Stock No. 490xx

Recoil spring sets are available with load-rated specifications to tailor the recoil function to individual needs. The inner and outer recoil springs replace the factory springs using the factory recoil guide and plug.  Springs are changed by removing and replaceing the "C" clip on the front of the factory assembly.  An extra power firing pin spring is also included

W.C. Wolff Company offers single recoil springs for the Delta Elite 10mm pistol. When using a Wolff single recoil spring to replace the original dual-springs, a standard diameter Colt (1911 series) recoil spring guide MUST be used in place of the smaller guide supplied with the Delta Elite. Full length guide rod systems may also be used, provided they do not reduce the recoil space. The smaller internal spring supplied with the pistol must not be used with the Wolff single recoil spring. Note: The dual factory springs are rated at 23 pounds.

These single springs offer improved reliability and smoother functioning than that found with dual spring recoil systems. Each load-rated recoil spring pak includes an extra power firing pin spring.
